Letter to Parents of 5th-Graders

RE: P.A.S.S (Perfect Attendance Spells Success)
Dear 5th Grade Parents,
Parker Toyota and Horace Mann Insurance have again partnershiped to encourage and reward Perfect Attendance for 5th grade students in the Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland School Districts. Over the past 5 years, 809 students have earned bikes.
However, the purpose of the program is not to encourage students to attend school when sick or contagious to others. With the onset of H1N1 flu, we came very close to stopping the incentive program. Students with flu like symptoms or fevers will not be allowed to stay at school. Please make sure your child understands this.
Perfect Attendance guidelines to earn a bike include:
· Full attendance for all 4 quarters of school
· No tardies
· No early releases
Due to the likelihood of seasonal and H1N1 flu, we are adding an incentive for students who earn
3 quarters of Perfect Attendance to allow for necessary absences. These student names will be placed in a drawing for a bike at the end of the year. Quarters are determined by the following dates:
- 1st quarter: Sept. 8 – Nov. 6
- 2nd quarter: Nov. 9 – Jan. 28
- 3rd quarter: Jan. 29 – March 24
- 4th quarter: March 25 – June 11
To give you a chance to discuss the P.A.S.S. program with your child, the attendance incentive program will begin on October 5.
A big thank you to Parker Toyota and Horace Mann Insurance for their generous partnership. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call your school principal or myself at (208) 664-8241.
Sincerely,
Pamela Marie Pratt
Director of Elementary Education
